We are looking for Keele Humanities and Social Sciences Postgraduate Research students to work with the Faculty Research Office supporting two vital strategic areas:
- PGR Public Engagement Fellow – call for applicants March 2016: Research which engages with multiple publics and which makes a positive impact in the world beyond academia is a crucial aspect of modern research. Good levels of impact and public engagement helps to secure external research funding through the Research Excellence Framework and external research grants. It’s also important for researchers to be able to communicate their work to the public which, ultimately, fund us all. But more than that, the best, most surprising and vibrant research is often that which has been developed in collaboration with people beyond academia, matching academic frameworks with a partner’s insights and needs, to create something which is academically rigorous and makes a positive change in the world. We are looking for an individual PGR to work with Mike Hession, the Faculty Research Development Manager, to help promote opportunities for interaction beyond academia.
- Faculty Social Media Ambassador – call for applicants March 2016: Researchers and research organisations are increasingly recognising the value of a strong social media strategy to help communicate research work to a wide audience, creating not only a window onto our research, but an invitation to join a multifaceted dialogue with other researchers and publics all over the world. We need someone to work with the Faculty Research Office to ensure that our Twitter feed, Facebook page and Blog are kept vibrant and up to date – and also to contribute to extending the online footprint to other social media tools.
Both roles are for 10 weeks in the first instance, 4 hours per week, at £9 per hour plus holiday pay. You don’t need to be an expert in either area, as training will be provided. What is important to us is commitment, organisational skills, and enthusiasm.
The deadline is 8 April 2016 – so what are you waiting for!
